Do you love Halloween? Love to make your own home decor items?
This is an easy DIY for creating a creepy Halloween scene using a thrifted piece of art.

Honestly, the most challenging part of this DIY is finding the art. There are lots of great thrifted art pieces out there. However, finding the right one can be a challenge.
I mean sure you can use any nature scene but isn’t this creepy rocking chair just the BEST?
I thrifted to painting for $7 and could not wait to start.
I knew I had to darken the entire painting down to give it a more eerie feel. I started by mixing black paint and water 3 to 2.

I grabbed an old rag and simply rubbed the mixture quickly on and off the painting. I did not let it sit too long because I didn’t want to lose the image, but darken it.

See now wasn’t that easy?
Now we wait for it to dry and create our “shape”.

This was the hardest part for me.
I am not an artist, not one little bit! I sat and looked at this canvas for a long time trying to figure out what to do. How creepy I wanted to be. Did I just add a sweet ghost or bats?
Ultimately I decided to get a little dark and creepy by adding a dark shadow figure behind the chair.

You do not need to be an artist to do this.
I just grabbed some charcoal I had, you could use chalk or paint. I like charcoal because it can be smudged. I think it adds to the creepy factor.
Once he had a full form I just added two white dots to create a glowing eye effect.
Now it’s like he is staring at you! Ok, maybe that is a little too creepy!
